How to check the mappings between the hard disks and LUNs in AIX?

Publication Date:  2012-07-18 Views:  137 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
At a commercial deployment, the AIX 5.3 operating system is used. To enable shared disks in a cluster, the customer wants to know the accurate mappings between the hard disks and LUNs.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Install the R2 version of UltraPath (UltraPath-2.01.007.AIX5.3) for viewing the mappings. Specifically, execute the upadm show lun command to view the mappings. To view the owning controller of a disk, locate the name of the LUN that corresponds to the disk and then the owning controller name.
Root Cause
To meet the requirement, the multipathing software needs to be installed.
The following information is displayed after the command is executed, where the Lun Name column corresponds to configured names of the LUNs on the storage device. ----------- # upadm show lun Vendor of /dev/hdisk0 is not HUAWEI Vendor of /dev/hdisk1 is not HUAWEI ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Device Name: Lun Name: Vendor ID: Type: Serial Number: Device WWN: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /dev/hdisk2 LUN_8 HUAWEI S6800E 1T50214955 60022a11000245e4007b501d0000001b /dev/hdisk3 LUN_9 HUAWEI S6800E 1T50214955 60022a11000245e4007b50c30000001c /dev/hdisk4 LUN_10 HUAWEI S6800E 1T50214955 60022a11000245e4007b51820000001d /dev/hdisk5 LUN_11 HUAWEI S6800E 1T50214955 60022a11000245e4007b52480000001e /dev/hdisk6 LUN_12 HUAWEI S6800E 1T50214955 60022a11000245e4007b53140000001f
