Issue Description

The Backup Exec 2010 software fails to start after the HDP3500 host name specified during the HDP3500 initial installation is changed.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Step 1  Reinstall the Backup Exec using the accompanying Backup Exec installation CD-ROM. (Changing the host name in the database may fail.)
Step 2  The problem disappears after the reinstallation.

Root Cause

The host name specified during the HDP3500 initial installation is written to the database of the Backup Exec. If the host name is changed after the initial installation, the Backup Exec will detects that the host name is different from the host name in its database during the startup, so the startup fails.

Determine the HDP3500 host name with the customer before the initial installation to avoid host name change after the installation.
