Issue Description

The Backup Exec 2010 backup server is installed successfully, and the Remote Agent for Linux or UNIX servers are installed on the remote Linux and properly configured. Backup jobs are created on the backup server. When Linux/UNIX server under Resource Favorites is clicked, no resource is displayed.

Alarm Information

None

Handling Process

Step 1  Make sure that the RALUS configuration file is generated, and then modify the RALUS configuration file ralus.cfg in the /etc/VRTSralus/ path. Run the vi command to open the ralus.cfg. Find the incorrect media server address and correct it. Then save and close the file.
Step 2  Run the /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init stop and /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init start commands to restart the RALUS process.
Step 3  Log in to the Backup Exec management page and re-create backup jobs. Then the remote Linux server and its resources are discovered.

Root Cause

The media server address/host name configured during RALUS installation is incorrect, so the RALUS fails to communicate with the media server. Therefore, the media server fails to discover the Linux server resources.

Suggestions

Make sure that the media server address is correct when you configure the RALUS. You are advised to modify the hosts file, specifically, add the host name and IP address of the media server so that the host name and IP address can be successfully identified.
