Backup Exec Backup Fails Due to an Oracle Identity Problem

Publication Date:  2012-07-19 Views:  566 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

Execution of the backup plan for the Oracle database configured on the Backup Exec fails because the Oracle database name is not included in the Backup Exec ID list.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Step 1  Check the identity verification of the Oracle server. The server name is the host name of the Oracle server. Change it to the IP address (the entry of the IP address and server host name has been added to the hosts file) of the server. The following figures show the procedure.

Step 2  Execute the backup plan again, the error recurs. Check the agent client configuration on the Oracle server. The DBA configuration is incorrect. In the For Oracle and DB2, use the complete computer name or IP address, the IP address of the Backup Exec server is specified. The correct value is the IP address of the Oracle server.
Step 3  Correct the value, and execute the backup plan. The backup succeeds

Root Cause

This problem occurs probably due to an error during the ID configuration.

During backup of the Oracle database, note that the ID of the Oracle server for identity authentication should be the IP address of the server.
