The Self-contained SQL Database of the Backup Exec 2010 Fails to be Installed

Publication Date:  2012-07-19 Views:  430 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

For Windows2003 Enterprise, if SQL2005 or later databases are not preinstalled, you need to install the self-contained SQL2005 database of the Backup Exec 2010. When you attempt to specify a path for the self-contained SQL2005 database, the system prompts that the specified file does not exist.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Copy the source file SQL2005 in the SQLExpress folder on the CD-ROM and change its name to SQLExpress32_CHS.exe. During the installation, select the copy directory where the SQLExpress32_CHS.exe file is.

Root Cause

The Backup Exec 2010 has strict requirements on SQL2005 installation file names. The SQL2005 file name on the Backup Exec 2010 installation CD-ROM is SQLExpress.exe and not the same as the name of the file to be installed. You need to change the file name to SQLExpress32_CHS.exe.
