Issue Description
A customer directly connects an ISMP570 microcomputer to an S5500 storage system by using the optical fiber. When the FC HBA WWN of the microcomputer is scanned in the storage management software by running the cfgmgr command, an error is displayed as follows: Method error (/usr/lib/methods/cfgqfscsi -l fscsi0 ): 0514-061 Cannot find a child device. Method error (/usr/lib/methods/cfgqfscsi -l fscsi1 ): 0514-061 Cannot find a child device.
Handling Process
Connect the optical fiber properly and ensure that both link and active indicators of the HBA are on the IBM microcomputer. Run the cfgmgr command to scan for disks and no error is reported. The HBA WWN of the IBM microcomputer is displayed on the S5500.
Root Cause
The inputting and outputting connectors of the optical fiber are reversely connected, which causes that the information about the FC HBA is wrong on the server.
Suggestions
Connect the optical fiber properly and ensure that both link and active indicators of the HBA are on the IBM microcomputer. Run the cfgmgr command to scan for disks and no error is reported. The HBA WWN of the IBM microcomputer is displayed on the S5500.
