How to Troubleshoot the Fault that Oceanspace UltraPath Software Fails to be Installed on the Windows 2008 OS?

Issue Description

On a deployment site of the S5600 storage device, the delivery-attached UltraPath software fails to be installed. The virtual device is not displayed on the device management interface.

Handling Process

Step 1  Decompress and copy the dll file in the attachment to the UltraPath installation directory. The path is C:\huaweisymantec\UltraPathforWindows. (The dll file can be used in both Chinese and English OSs.)
Step 2  Click and execute the install.bat file in the directory.
Step 3  Reboot the host.
Step 4  (This case uses the English OS as an example.) Right-click My Computer and select Server Manager from the shortcut menu. A dialog box is displayed. Expand Diagnostics and click Device Manager. Expand System Devices in the right pane. If Huawei Multi-path Device Specific Module is displayed, it indicates that the UltraPath software is successfully installed.

Root Cause

When you install the UltraPath software in the Windows 2008 OS, the dll file of the OS is required. However, the customer did not install the dll file when the OS was installed. Therefore, the UltraPath software fails to be installed.


Before you install the UltraPath software in the Windows 2008 OS, make sure that the dll file exists in the OS.
