How to Configure LUNs on the Linux Server of the S5100 Storage Device by Using the Script?

Publication Date:  2012-07-20 Views:  106 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Usually, 20 to 40 LUNs are configured on a storage device. Manually configuring these LUNs on the service server is inefficient and error-prone. Configuring these LUNs on the service server by using the script improves the efficiency.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Run the following commands:
for i in `lsscsi|grep "S5100"|awk '{print $6}'`
fdisk $i << EOF

Root Cause
Run the lsscsi command to view all SCSI devices, including the S5100 and S1200 that use the iSCSI protocol.
Run the grep command to filter the S5100 among all listed devices.
Run the awk command to find the device name.
The procedure for configuring partitions is as follows:
Step 1  Run the fdisk and n commands to create partitions.
Step 2  Type p to create the primary partition.
Step 3  Type 1 to create a partition that contains all resources.
Step 4  Press Enter.
Step 5  Press Enter.
Step 6  Press Enter.
Step 7  Type w to create the partition list.
You can obtain the script in the attachment.
If you want to configure LUNs on other Huawei Symantec storage devices, pay attention to the result after the lsscsi command is executed and choose the proper filtering keywords.
