The initiator status is Reconeting, and then the S2600 resources fail to be mapped to the host

Publication Date:  2012-07-20 Views:  102 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The IP address of the S2600 service port is added for the host. The initiator status is Reconeting. On the ISM, the initiator is successfully discovered and added to the host. However, the host fails to discover the storage resources.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Step 1  Confirm that the configuration sequence is proper.
Step 2  Check whether the failure is caused by the unstable network: Run the ping service port IP address –t command on the host to check whether packages are lost.
Step 3  Check whether the failure is caused by the incorrect port settings: Run the telnet service port IP address 3260 on the host to check the port status. The initiator occupies port 3260; therefore, check whether port 3260 is normally enabled of applications such as firewall. If package loss or port disconnection is discovered, troubleshoot the settings of the switch, router, and firewall on the network and enable the port.
After the previous possible causes are troubleshot, map storages resources to the host again. The operation succeeds and the host accesses the S2600 normally.
Root Cause
The initiator is incorrectly added, or the network is unstable, causing package loss or incorrect port setting.
Before mounting storage resources, confirm that the network where the host and storage device reside is stable and the configuration procedure is correct.
