Issue Description

The user downloads the latest VPN client (V100R001C02) from but fails to install it on a server running Windows 2003. The system prompts the user to install the SP2 patch before installing the VPN client

Handling Process

By using a virtual machine, install the VPN client (V100R001C02) in Windows 2003. You are advised to install the SP2 and later versions on the server and then install the VPN client.

Root Cause

According to the information provided by the user, no SP2 or later versions is installed in Windows 2003.


Add the new features of V100R001C02SPC001 in the release notes for the VPN client (V100R001C02) as follows:
NAT traversal in main mode, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Socks5 proxy protocol, customized package installation and installation package upgrade, diagnostic tools, automatic startup, default dial-up, certificate authentication, and LNS domain name access. Note the following when you use V100R001C02SPC001:
When you upgrade the VPN client to V100R001C02SPC001 or later versions, ensure that the firewall version meets the following requirements:
USG50/USG3000 series: V100R001C03SPC001 or later versions
USG2100: V100R001C01SPC001 or later versions
Eudemon 100E/200S: V100R002C01SPC001 or later versions
Eudemon 200: V200R007C03SPC001 or later versions
USG2200/5000/9000 series: no requirement
Eudemon 300/500/1000(E)/8000(E): no requirement
Note: If the live network firewall fails to upgrade to the specified version, continue to use the Client V100R001C01. To use the USB key digital certificate authentication, install the USB key drive. The V100R001C02 supports the USB key vender devices. If your PC runs Windows 2000, install SP4 or later versions. If your PC runs Windows 2003, install SP2 or later versions. Before you install the VPN Client, ensure that your PC has no other VPN client software, dial-up software, network packet obtian tool, or firewall software, especially certain private firewall software. Otherwise, the installation may fail or the system is abnormal. If your PC has AV software installed, before you install the VPN client, disable its memory monitoring and file monitoring functions. After the VPN Client is installed, enable the two functions again. If the VPN client is installed in Windows 2000, restart your PC after the installation is complete. In the proxy environment, if the intranet DNS cannot resolve the extranet domain names, the LNS does not support domain name filling. The USB key of XX does not support the Windows Vista OS.
