The Read/Write Performance of the S2600 Decreases for it has a Single Power Supply

Issue Description

The S2600 is installed in a single-path iSCSI network and configured with a single power supply. The LUNs mapped from the S2600 to a host can be normally accessed. However, the read/write performance tested by the IOmeter tool is low. Under normal circumstances, the performance is 100 Mbit/s, but under the single power supply circumstance, the performance is only 20 Mbit/s

Handling Process

Power the S2600 by using dual power supplies. The LUN write policy is automatically restored to write-back and mirroring.  

Root Cause

If the S2600 is configured with a single power supply, its LUN write policy is changed from write-back and mirroring to write-through, which dramatically reduces the read/write performance.  


It is recommended to power the S2600 by using dual power supplies for a high system performance.
