Issue Description

The alarm indicator of the hard disk in slot 0 of the S2300 is red on continuously; however, on the OSM interface, the state of the hard disk is Normal, the state of the storage system is Normal, and no alarm is generated.

Alarm Information

None

Handling Process

Turn on and then off the disk location indicator, and then the disk alarm indicator is off.
The detailed procedure is:
Step 1  Log in to the OSM.
Step 2  Choose Service > All Resources.
Step 3  Select the relevant hard disk, and click Locate Disk on the lower right corner.
Step 4  Click OK in the displayed dialog box.
Then the indicator is turned off.

Root Cause

In the history alarms, no alarm relevant to hard disks exists.
In the history events, no event relevant to hard disks exists.
In the system logs, the following messages exist:
2009-09-14 20:18:02  Operation  WebUI  User admin:Logout.
2009-09-14 20:14:47  Operation  WebUI  User admin:Disk light on successfully, (subrackID,slotID) is (00, 0)
2009-09-14 20:14:23  Operation  WebUI  User admin:Login. IP is 172.16.0.200.
The messages indicate that a user logged in to the storage device at 2009-09-14 20:14:47, turned on the disk location indicator, but forgot to turn it off before logging out. As the disk location indicator and alarm indicator share the same one, the hard disk is misjudged as faulty.
