ISM Unable to Receive Messages From Storage Devices

Issue Description

When removing or inserting hard disks on a storage device, the ISM installed on the maintenance terminal fails or takes a long time to receive fault or event messages from the storage device.

Handling Process
  1. Configure the hardware/software firewall to open the ports 7890, 8901 and from 8000 to 8090.
Root Cause
  1. It is found that a hardware firewall is being used between the storage device and the maintenance terminal, or a software firewall is running on the maintenance terminal.


  • The ISM fails to receive fault or event messages from the storage device due to unopened ports of the hardware/software firewall that are used for communicating with the ISM.
