The MSCS dual-node cluster interconnects with the storage device through the iSCSI protocol to form the multipath environment. Each node is installed with the multipathing software, and the quorum disks (500 MB) and resource disks are also allocated for the cluster on the storage device. In the cluster creation configuration wizard, the system performs the cluster analysis and creation after the quorum and resource disks are selected. However, the quorum and resource disks are displayed as offline as shown in Figure 1, even if the analysis and configuration succeed.

Product and version information:
In each of the MSCS cluster nodes, select Enable Cluster for the multipathing software.
Set a unique persistent reversed key (PRKey) for each cluster node.
The PRKey is a permanently reserved value in the form of 00000101, where the first six digits 000001 stand for a cluster, and the following two digits 01 stand for a node. Different PRKeys must be set for different nodes. For example, if there are two nodes in a cluster, the PRKeys of the nodes can be set to 00000101 and 00000111 respectively.
Reconfigure the MSCS after the host is restarted.
By checking the networking between the storage device and the dual-node cluster, the multipath environment is detected and each node is installed with the multipathing software.
The Cluster function of the multipathing software is found to be disabled.
Offline quorum disks occur during the MSCS configuration because the Cluster function of the multipathing software is disabled.
In clustered environments (such as MSCS and VCS), users must enable the cluster function of multipathing software and set different PRKeys for different nodes to prevent resources to be offline.
