Modem Dial-up Fails When the Serial Ports of Maintenance Terminals Are Down

Issue Description

The local modem fails to connect to the remote modem through the dial-up, and there is no display of successful connection on the super terminal.

Handling Process

  1. Close the super terminal.
  2. Remove and reinsert the cable that connects the serial port of the modem and that of the maintenance terminal.
  3. Dial up again to reestablish the remote connection.
  4. Type the correct user name and password to log in.

Root Cause

  • Run the dial-up command, such as atdt 02885340000.
  • If the system displays CONNECT 33600 and no more information is output, it indicates that the serial port of the maintenance terminal is down.
  • The modem dial-up fails because the serial port of the maintenance terminal is down.
