Application Servers Unable to Mount Mapped LUNs After Startup

Publication Date:  2012-07-22 Views:  782 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

The LUNs are successfully mapped to an AS in the ISM, but later, none of them can be mounted when the AS starts up.

Product and version information:
  • S2600 (with iSCSI port modules)
  • The operation system of the AS is either Linux or UNIX

Alarm Information

Handling Process

  1. Run the command vi /etc/profile to open the configuration file of the OS.
  2. Press i to enable the editing mode.
  3. At the end of the file, append strings /etc/rc.local or /bin/mount -a.
  4. Press Esc to exit the editing mode.
  5. Type :wq to save the changes and exit the vi editor.
  6. Restart the AS, and then you should be able to mount mapped LUNs.

Root Cause

  1. Access the OS of the AS in CLI mode.
  2. Run the command vi /etc/profile to open the configuration file of the OS.
  3. It is found that no strings like /etc/rc.local or /bin/mount -a can be located in the configuration file.

  • The AS fails to mount mapped LUNs after startup due to the sequential error of starting the iSCSI service.
