Loading a License File Fails Because the USG5300 Version is Too Early

Publication Date:  2012-07-23 Views:  76 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
When a user attempts to upload a license to a USG5300 V100R003C01SPC002 device, the device reports an error message, stating that the ESN is incorrect and the license fails to be uploaded.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Upgrade the device from the V100R003C01SPC002 to V100R003C01SPC006. Then the license can be loaded successfully.
Root Cause
The license template changes in the V100R003C01SPC005, so a new license cannot be loaded to a device of a version earlier than the V100R003C01SPC005
The V100R003C01SPC002 is the FOA version. You are not advised to use it. The USG5300 (UTM) devices delivered since now on will be the V100R003C01SPC006 or later, and therefore immune from this problem.
