Issue Description

This topic describes the checks that need to be performed before you install the VSM on Windows OS.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Step 1     Ensure that the OS version and disk partition are correct. See Verifying OS Installation.
Step 2     One NIC must have only one IP address. For details, see 19.21 How to Check Whether an NIC Is Assigned Multiple IP Addresses (Windows) and 19.22 How to Delete Unnecessary IP Addresses of an NIC (Windows).
Step 3     Check the database conditions. Choose Start > All Programs.
Step 4     Check whether the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 program exists. If the program exists, the database has been installed.
If the SQL Server database has been installed, check whether the database is installed in binary mode. For details, see 20.3 How to Check Whether the SQL Server Database Can Be Sorted in Binary Mode.
If the database is not installed in binary mode, the VSM cannot be installed. In this case, uninstall the database. For details, see 20.13 How to Manually Uninstall the SQL Server Database.
Step 5     Run the following command to check whether the isql command can be executed:
C:\> isql -Usa -Psa password -Sdatabase name
If 1> is displayed, the database can be accessed successfully. Then, run the quit command.
Step 6     Run the following command to check whether the bcp command can be executed:
C:\> bcp master..sysdatabases out D:\test.txt -Usa -Psa password -Sdatabase name -c
Check whether the test.txt file is generated in disk D and check contents in the file. If replication data is displayed, the bcp command can be executed.
