Issue Description

A client uses Telecom EC169C Model USB-3G card as Public network export. View the port state, can find 3G card model. But after using the fast guide configuration, the detecting can’t be passed. Then open the terminal monitoring in the command line, find that the interface non-stop up / down.

Handling Process

Check 3G configuration:

Configure dial-on-demand, user name and password is the customer phone number and phone password, the client also has checked many times. Change automatic dialing, change the USB interface, reboot the device, also can not solve the problem.
Finally, to see the past 3G data, the account of 3G is not the customer’s mobile phone number and phone password. Because when the customer uses a laptop dial, it is the default account, there is no need to configure the user name and password. After inquiries into Telecom default user name and password are card, modify the configuration as follows:
ppp chap user card
ppp chap password simple card
ppp pap local-user card password simple card
After reboot 3G interface, will be able to get to the public network ip ,problem will be  solved.

Root Cause

Manual prompts, Telecom must configure account and password (China Unicom and China Mobile not require this), suspect that the user name and password error or ppp negotiation error.


The configuration of 3G, especially Telecom, pay attention to the user name and password. The usually used user name and password is:
For TD-SCDMA, the user name and password in general case is free
For CDMA (EVDO) the user name and password in general case is card.
