There are 3 S2600 in site using external single UPS, and the power supply is double-channel independently. One day customer feedbacks that when one power supply powered off, two of them are normal, but one is power outage.
Adjust the input of storage’s power supply, make the export of UPS access to A controller.
We doubt that the power supply of storage controller enclosure has some problems; it doesn’t make the power supply double-channel independently come true. But after customers checking, they make sure that the power supply is double-channel independently. Throughing connect to the power outage storage by ISM and analyse alarm log, we find that it shows “UPS 0 there is no export in power supply” firstly, after 5 minutes, the system shows “enclosure 0, power number 1, there is no export in power supply”, then shows “system power lost!” It proves that the system has power outage.
Checking carefully again, we finally find the serial signal cable of this storage’s external UPS access to A controller, but the export of UPS access to B controller. Thinking about the analysis of log, we find the reason for power outage. In this wrong way, when UPS is power outage, the system wound think there is no input in A controller because the signal cable of UPS access to A controller. At the same time, UPS begin to charge to B controller, the system is normal. After 5 minutes, there is no power in UPS and there is no input in B controller, so the storage will be power outage.
We must notice the standardization of UPS and power cable when we delivery S2600. The UPS’s serial signal cable and power cable must access to one controller. Or the redundancy wound not work even there are two power supply.
