Root Cause

If we plug the power cable directly or use the reset button to reboot the system in S2600 storage array which hasn’t configure BBU or UPS, the system wound not startup normally after power on. It will lead the data in cache get lost and DB may mangle (the DB information inconsistent or verification wrong). So it makes the system can’t startup normally after power on.

Suggestions

There are two orders for S2600 in CLI: resetsys and shutdown. They can be used to reset the system or power off.
Resetsys is used to reboot the system. We suggest the customers to use this order in CLI mode if they just want to reboot the system.
Notice when using this order:
Key in resetsys, the system will show tip, it will reboot the system commonly.
Key in resetsys –f, the system will go into compellent reset mode.
Notice when using this order:
If the device can’t power off through CLI, it will show “The system can not permit to power off by CLI!” when we key in shutdown.
If the device can power off through CLI, it will notice the user to make sure if to power off when we key in shutdown.
