Using BE12.5 configured full backup and incremental backup to have the test of recover Oracle database. The aim is to recover the data which has been deleted.
The test process is as below:
1. Insert a data A in Oracle.
2. Have a full backup by BE.
3. Insert a data B.
4. Have a incremental backup by BE.
5. Delete the data A and B.
6. Recover by BE, and choose the full backup and incremental backup set. Choose “Recover from full backup/incremental backup” in the oracle property, and choose “up to the minute”
We can’t find data A and B after we recover succeed.
If we want to recover to the incremental backup point, we should check out SCN number in the database control file in resource view. Then choose recover to the specified SCN in the oracle setting instead recover to the latest.
When BE recover the oracle to the latest state, it will redo all the operation from the last backup as log until the state before recover.
When we recover oracle, if we need to recover to the state after backup, we need SCN number to recover to what we need.
