nt to continue(y/n)?y
Enter data retention period(days):60
Data older than 60 days will be purged and purge configuration will be saved, do you want to continue(y/n):y

C:\Program Files\Veritas>nomadmin -purge status

Starting the NOM Server...

C:\Program Files\Veritas>

Notice that nomadmin has two similar options.
-purge [ auto | auto_off | delete_saved | status ]
-purge_and_save [ auto ]

Available options are as shown below:

Use the NOMAdmin utility with one of the following parameters:
-start_service (Starts all the NOM services)
-stop_service (Stops all the NOM services)
-purge [ auto | auto_off | delete_saved | status ]
-purge_and_save [ auto ]
-changePW
-changeGuest
-changePort
-change_NOM_AT_parameters
-change_proxy_server_parameters
-export (Exports the nom schema and database to this folder)
-import (Imports the nom schema and database from this folder)
-deleteAlerts (Deletes all alerts, whose last modified date is less than given date)
-defrag (Defragments the database)
-version (prints installed NOM version information)

The difference is ,after setting time, whether the date is saved. If selecting the option “-purge_and_save auto”, we need to delete saved job messages by the “-purge delete_saved”.

C:\Program Files\Veritas>nomadmin -purge delete_saved
Stopping the NOM Server...
Saved purge(Job) data will be deleted, do you want to continue(y/n):y
Saved purge(Job) data is deleted successfully.
Starting the NOM Server...
C:\Program Files\Veritas>nomadmin

Root Cause

NOM obtains data and store them to NOM database after communicating with MASTER. The data retention cycle is not related with MASTER configuration but determined by NOM. If you need to extend data retention cycle, you should execute correlated command to change.
