Issue Description

In a site, a T3500 mounts two 1T disks, but does not configure RAID card. In site deployment process, we install Windows server 2003 Enterprise Edition OS on servers. After “Loading files” process, system prompts no disk available, and cannot finish the installing.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

For possible reason 1:
Step 1: Check all disk units and ensure all of them are plugged into corresponding slots.
Step 2: Check whether all disk unit indicators work normally and ensure the system has no alarm
For possible reason 2:
Step 1: Ensure the disks are plugged well and the indicators work normally. System has no disk unit alarm.
Step 2: The fault occurs again when reinstalling OS, and the prompt is “no available install medium”.
By the phenomenon of this fault and the condition of disk unit, we can ensure this fault because of disk has not been identified by system, and the drive has not been loaded. There are two solutions to solve this problem.
Solution 1: Manually loading drive by USB floppy drive
Step 1: Prepare a USB floppy drive, a floppy disk, and copy the drive which is in CD to the floppy disk.
Step 2: Reinstall Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, and in the process of “Loading files”, press “F6” to load user-defined drive manually.
Step 3: After loading user-defined drive, the system can be installed.
Solution 2: Make install CD using nlite
Step 1: Run nlite software, and fetch the installation file from OS installation CD to local directory.
Step 2: Run nlite software again, and select the directory of fetched file. Click “next” button until appearing function selecting interface.
Step 3: Select “conformity” ----“drive program”, then the red point which is in front of “drive program” will become green. Click “next”, and select “the folder with several drive programs”.
Step 4: After click “the folder with several drive programs”, the drive program file will be seen. Click “next” to integrate drive program and click “finish” at the end.
Step 5: Run nlite software again, select “establish”----“guidable ISO mirror” in the function selecting interface.

Root Cause

By the prompt,we know this phenomenon dues to no disk available, which may cause by the follow reasons:
Reason 1: The disk cannot be plugged into the slot completely
Reason 2: Although the disk has been plugged well, the drive loads faulty.

When installing T3500, it is best to take USB CD-ROM drive (with disc burning function), empty CD or USB floppy drive (with floppy disk) to solve this problem.
