Two sets of 5752 use as active/standby VRRP, IP PBX’s business gateway is the virtual address of S5700 VRRP. The operation is normal until suddenly the voice engineer feedback that the virtual address gateway is unavailable, which will lead to business interruption.
After received the feedback, let voice engineer try to ping the real address and succeed, in order to not affect business, the first time let voice engineer modify the gateway to the real address temporarily.
After arrived at the site, found that only IP PBX ping don't use the VRRP virtual address of s5700 switch, all other equipments including PC can ping.
Decide to focus on checking the IP PBX firstly, after login IP PBX, view the MAC entry, found the aging time of IP PBX is special long, even to hundreds of thousands of seconds.
And to know, due to have switched the VLAN business in that day, perhaps the MAC aging time is too long to can't learn the new virtual address of the MAC.
Check the MAC corresponding with the virtual address of IP PBX MAC entry, found it is not consistent with the VRRP virtual address of S5700.
Clear the MAC entry and then can learn the right MAC address again, the business is back to normal.
Because of other equipments including PC can ping virtual address, only IPPBX cannot ping, so the problem can be locked in the IP PBX.
Suggestions and conclusion: It is suggested that the MAC aging time of equipment won’t be set too long, to prevent similar accidents.
