A site opens some new 9300 exchanges as second gathering switches, software version is V100R003C00SPC200, there are some access users using optical-electric converter under LE02G48SC veneer (the veneer supports 48 100/1000BASE-X port). Customer feedback that part of the ports appear frequently up/down alarm, the switch time of some up and down state may be the same seconds and appear many times, the customer questioned the optical module of 9300 equipment batch fault.

After communicated with customers, configure port-down holdoff-timer 1000 in the related port (enabling port down events reported cycle is 1 seconds). Observe several days, no longer appears the frequent up/down alarm before, problem solving.
1, Through checking, the port appears frequently up/down are joint optical-electric converter. The customer said such optical-electric converter has been used a lot, now network 8500 and 6500 switch all use a lot and have no abnormalities.
2, confirmed that the optical module of 9300 are all project delivery supporting and don’t exist the situation that the third party manufacturers optical module mixed inserted.
3, V1R3 version opened port DOWN events reported threshold control (can also be called as: port state suppression function), the default threshold is 50 ms. That is in the next 50 ms inside, appeared port physical state switching, the equipment will print relevant information. Since there may be multiple negotiation in the butt between the optical port and optical-electric converter and has several up/down switching, although the time is short, but as a result of each report cycle only 50 ms, so will report port state switch information many times. The default DOWN events reported valve before 8500 and 6500 exchange is 1000 ms.
9300 switch to cope with bottom equipment port state fast switching, the default interface DOWN events reported valve is small. If interconnect is optical-electric converter or small switches, suggested that modify the port DOWN events reported valve to be a few bigger, otherwise may appear frequently alarm.
