FAQ-why can we not connect to MegaRAID storage manager normally

Issue Description

There is a VTL3500 in a site, during site deployment, use the ISM management software, the version is V100R002. We have modified the service network interface address, the system management network interface NIC1 use the factory default address, IPMI management network interface use the default address Connect to the ISM management software, we can find the devices normally, but when we open the MegaRAID storage manager by ISM, it warns loading fails after keying in the username and password.

Handling Process

1. Examine the network connectivity and configuration, management device can ping IPMI IP and system management network interface IP normally. We can use root account and password to connect the system by SSH.
2. Examine the working state of ISM software, startup the VTL Console by ISM. We can connect normally by root account and password, and we can configure VTL3500.
3. Trying to connect the system management network interface and management device directly without switch, run MegaRAID storage manager, but it still warns loading fails. Reboot the VTL server or VTL 3500, try many times, but the faults still exist.
4. After modifying the system management network interface NIC1’s IP address, we reboot VTL3500. We can open MegaRAID storage manager normally, and can configure service.

Root Cause



During the site deployment of VTL3500 for the future, we advise to modify the system management network interface default address when we configure the service network interface address to avoid the loading failure.
