FAQ-How to solve the problem of volume group offline on Ocenstor S3000, S6000 series

Issue Description

On the RBT site of Saudi Arabia, the operation platform uses OceanStor S6800 series. One day there is no RBT when making a phone call, the field engineer check the storage via OceanStor Manager Suite software, and find there is a volume group is abnormal, as picture 1.

Handling Process

To the problem of volume offline, we may make it online by hand, the process is as follow:
1. Open the storage management software, as picture 1.
2. Choose the offline volume group, as picture 2.
3. Then click “Advanced-Maintenance-Place Volume Group-On line”, as picture 3.
4. After the volume recovery, the alarm is disappeared, and Storage Arrage turns green, as picture 4.

Root Cause

By analyzing the log of the storage and the picture of the software, we know that the cause is one of volume groups offline.


Volume group offline belongs to serious accident, if you find it, please solve it at the first time, if you cannot, call for help.
