A site installed several TSM monitor to monitor the TSM server running status. Customers have a SM and four SC, one day the monitor alarms, two SC’s FTP server connection anomaly.
1, Checking according to the possible reasons, in SM server can Telnet to SC server’s port 21, at the same time in SC server Telnet SM server’s port 21 also normal. Proof the network layer is normal.
At the same time also hasn’t been impeded. So rules out the reason 1 and 3.
2, check the SM server’s FTP service, in SM can use FTP server normally, and at the same time there are another 2 SC server connected SM, the two is normal, so also rules out question 2.
3 Through the above checking, can preliminary judge that the problem is on SM server, and may be the buffer overflow caused the FTP server abnormal. Hence restart the SM server. After restart, monitor alarm disappeared, monitoring normally.
Possible reasons are as follows:
1, because SC network layer and SM disconnect, cause the alarm.
2, SM server FTP failure causes alarm.
3, SM and SC connection communication port was blocked.
4, SM server system problem, buffer overflow.
After the analysis, the reason is SM server buffer overflow.
SM, SM server itself bearing a large number of data exchange, to the database, server system, there are a lot of things cache accumulation. So proposal on a regular basis restart the SM, SC server, can optimize the system, reduce the similar failures.
