How to configure DNS when USG2000 3G upstream

Publication Date:  2012-11-28 Views:  213 Downloads:  0

Issue Description

The USG2000 uplink access to the external network by 3G dial-up, it dynamicly got IP address and DNS, the downlink as DHCP server and DNS proxy (it configured to obtain DNS through 3G dial-up port), it dynamically assigned IP address and DNS for client, the client can not access URL.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

1. Using the ping command to test the reachability of the IP address, normal;

2.Check USG2000 equipment, the DNS related configuration, no abnormity. client obtain the correct DNS address, gateway address (USG as DNS proxy that is the USG interface address);

3, View dialing mouth, the interface has been acquired to the public network DNS address;

4, Shutdown 3G dial-mouth, and then undo shutdown, so USG2000 re-3G dial-up access to the IP address and DNS problem is solved.

Root Cause

1.The network is not working;

2.Client DNS request does not respond, the URL could not resolve.

USG2000 as the DNS proxy obtained DNS address dynamically, if it had got dynamic DNS address through dial-up when it configured DNS proxy, but this DNS address does not automatically update to related DNS proxy cache, and USG2000 itself can not resolve the DNS, client DNS requests can not get a response, so it is necessary to restart the dial-up ports to allow the DNS proxy cache update to dynamic DNS address Or change the configuration sequence to configure the DNS proxy first, then 3G dial-up.
