Issue Description

The controller B is faulty and not functioning From the Event viewer we will observe Error code (11) on controller,

The controller B reported error code 11 at 2013-08-17, 

2013-08-17 04:47:02    0xe02040004    Major    None    The controller (controller  0, controller  B) is faulty. The error code is ( 11).    Step 1 Contact technical support engineers for further handling.



Handling Process

1. collect the logs
2. analyse the logs
3. decode the error code "0xe02040004    Major  "
4.  log a part replacement request
5. replace the faulty controller
6. check the storage system health.

Suggestions

before replacing the controller

1. note down the firmware version of new and old controller
2. ensure you have backup of the existing LUN
3. if possible plan a downtime and power down the storage box and replace the new controller
4. check the system health from ISM console
5. verify that Software version and Firmware version are compitable,
6. verify the LUN connectivity and LUN ownership on new controller
