An Alarm Is Mistakenly Reported During Live Migration of a VM with Large Memory Space

Publication Date:  2015-01-26 Views:  876 Downloads:  1

Issue Description

An alarm was reported on the FusionCompute portal, indicating that a VM (16 GB memory) repeatedly restarted during the live migration process. However, the VM live migration succeeded and the alarm had no adverse impact on VM live migration.

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Manually clear the alarm on the FusionCompute portal.

Root Cause

 After analyzing the service logs, we found that no request is sent to restart or stop the VM during the VM live migration process.

 After further analysis, we found that the VM is renamed migrating-VM ID during the live migration process. Then, the alarm module mistakenly regards the VM as a common VM. Therefore, the alarm is mistakenly reported.

Upgrade FusionCompute to V100R3C00SPC300 or later.
