Telepresence 3106 is installed at customer site. customer was having complain that on one LCD is not showing the video. when i went to check that the LCD was only showing green display and sometimes it shows the video but with blur lines on it. it was upto the codec sometimes it shows green display and sometime video with blur lines. the left codec was faulty.
so from the tests mentioned above in cause analysis i was confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the cables and cable connections.
it was either software or hardware fault. then i decided to swap the codecs to check weather there is some fault in LCD or camera after when i swap left codec which is faulty with the right codec the right screen was now showing the green display. so its now confirmed that codec has some issue.
then to check the software i upgraded the codec firmware after upgradation the result was same. so after this i confirmed that the fault is in codec hardware which is unable to boot properly as sometimes it shows green display and sometimes video with blur lines.
after all the tests performed i replaced the codec with new one and then every thing was fine which confirms that codec hardware was faulty.
First i decided to check all the cables connections so that if there is some cable loosely connected so that i can tight that cable. but after this cable connection checking the result was same.
So i decided to confirm this by first changing the cables that connects codec with LCD and telepresence host. so i get some new cables and make all the connections again with left teleprescense codec but result was still the same.
whenever the codec shows this kind of response first try directly to swap the codec with some other one to confirm that weather the fault is in codec or cables. if fault is in codec then try to upgrade the firmware first if still same problem then replace the codec with new one because of the hardware fault.
