How to configure Sub-option of Option 43 if firewall doest support it .

Publication Date:  2014-07-10 Views:  143 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
I tried  to use “option 43 ip-address X.X.X.X” and “option 43 ascii X.X.X.X”, but the AP do not “know” what is AC address:

Using “option 43 ascii X.X.X.X” on firewall ------FAIL
Using “option 43 ip-address X.X.X.X” on firewall -----FAIL
Using “option 43 sub-option 3 ascii” Configured on a switch ----SUCCESS

The last  test I did is using a switch as DHCP Server and with sub-option 3,This way I could compare the behavior of one scenario  that works, with the firewall scenarios that doesn’t work.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
Assuming that the AC IP address  is ,we can configure like this :

[Eudemon-dhcp-vlan50_switch1]option 43 hex  030B31322E31322E31322E3132
Description :
03 (this is fixed, means  sub-option of option 43)
0B(length of IP ,include dot, it is 11,translated to Hexadecimal, it should be 0B  )
31(“1” is presented as “31” in ASCII table  )
32(“2” is presented as “32” in ASCII table  )
2E(“. “ is presented as “2E” in ASCII table  )
Root Cause
The E200E doesn’t support “option 43 sub-option 3 ascii”, we need to find out an alternate solution
When we must to configure “option 43 sub-option 3 ascii” but the DHCP server doesn’t support sub-option ,please follow the guidance.
