the customer's storage reported a disk faulty in position [0;9], i checked logs and events from that storage and that disk from position [0;9] was in reconstructed status. a replacement with a new one was mandatory.
I sent two new disks to our customer but the storage reported the same error " reconstructed" and the disk had red light.
i checked again logs and event, i asked customer about SMART logs from his storage but the problem was not related to disks.
1, hard disk in slot (0,9) had been replaced twice, both new disks was reported fault with the same reason which we can eliminate disk fault possibility.
2, Tried reseating hard drive and found that there is no any logs indicating such operation, which means system didn’t recognize the new hard disk properly.
1 The driver of controller A / B does not respond to the hard disk access, To recover this issue, please stop all the services and then restart the entire storage system, to see if the issue can be fixed only with a simple restart. Usually it works.
2, If the first step doesn’t work, the storage interface board (backplane board) has connection failure to hard disk, To resolve this issue, stop all the services and power off the entire storage, replace the interface board .
Both steps need downtime window to perform the operation, please schedule a maintenance windows, the expected downtime time is 2 or 3 hours.
