A System WMI Service Issue Led to a Failure to Open the UltraPath Management Interface

Publication Date:  2014-12-29 Views:  238 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The UltraPath management interface could not be opened by double-clicking the desktop icon.

Application server operating system: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise X86 Edition.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
1. Choose Start > Management Tool > Service.
2. Enable the WMI service manually.

3. Double-click the UltraPath shortcut icon and wait 40 seconds for the interface to appear.
4. If the preceding solution does not work, uninstall the UltraPath and install it again.
Root Cause
We checked system services and found out that the WMI service was in the stop state.
We attempted to obtain kernel information by using the WMI Tools but failed.
It is concluded that due to the WMI issue, the UltraPath could not access system kernel information. As a result, the interface could not be initialized and therefore failed to be opened.
Ensure that the WMI service is in the enabled state.
When a large number of LUNs are mapped to a host, the initialization of the UltraPath on the host takes a while. However, subsequent UltraPath startups are immediate.
