RH2288H V3 with vmware enable the EVC-Mode failed

Issue Description

RH2288H V3 ,installed vmware5.5 U2,and failed to enable the EVC-Mode function in vmware.


Alarm Information

The host's CPU hardware should support the cluster's current Enhanced Compatibility mode, but some of the necessary CPU features are missing for the host.


Handling Process

1, According to the error message,check the BIOS setting, and most of time, it is caused by the VHS is not enabled. However, this setting in BIOS has already been enabled. 



2, Collect the vmware log, and found below information which means the Monitor/Mwait function is not enabled.


3, Then check the setting in BIOS and found that Monitor/Mwait is disbaled according to above screen.

Root Cause

In some version of the BIOS ,the monitor/mwait is disbaled and it will cause this issue.


Enable the monitor/mwait in BIOS and problem fixed.

This problem will happen in other server if the monitor/mwait is disabled.
