A hotel uses Huawei WLAN products to provide Wi-Fi signals. Through the WLAN, customers can surf the Internet or order food on iPads. At peak mealtimes, the food ordering data is backhauled to the server at slow speeds, which affects service delivery in the hotel. When the gateway is pinged from a wireless terminal, the ping delay is several hundred milliseconds.
The fault is caused by network congestion, which can be easily identified because the Internet access speed is fast when the network is idle and slow at peak mealtimes.
At peak mealtimes, a large number of wireless users access the wireless network, causing network congestion.
Configure the 5 GHz radio to offload traffic on the 2.4 GHz radio. Configure two SSIDs and use one SSID to offer Internet access services to customers and the other to provide food ordering services on iPads. In addition, perform rate limiting on terminals connected to the SSID offering Internet access services.
Adjust the radio type to prevent low-rate STAs from lowering the overall bandwidth.
Optimize the network and adjust the channels to prevent interference between channels.
Compared to the wired network, the wireless network is prone to external interference, which degrades the network quality. This kind of faults can be rectified through channel adjustment. Detailed configurations are as follows:
Configure dual radios to balance traffic: Currently, more and more devices support the 5 GHz radio. Enable the 5 GHz radio and configure 5G-prior access to preferentially divert terminals supporting the 5 GHz radio to the 5 GHz frequency band, which can prevent congestion on the 2. 4 GHz channels. The configuration is as follows:
Configure 5G-prior access.
Enable the 5 GHz radio.
Configure dual SSIDs: In this scenario, the production network of the hotel must be given higher bandwidth use priority. Configure dual SSIDs to separate the production network from the customer network. Use one of the SSIDs to offer Internet access services for the customers and the other for customers to order food on iPads. In addition, perform rate limiting on terminals connected to the SSID offering Internet access services. The configuration is as follows:
Configure rate limiting in the traffic profile of the user SSID.
Adjust the radio type to prevent low-rate STAs from lowering the overall bandwidth. Some STAs have low access rates due to low performance of the wireless NICs and drives, which affects the overall bandwidth of the AP. The configuration is as follows:
Optimize the network to prevent channel interference and improve network quality. The configuration is as follows:

Chanel configuration example (5 GHz)
After network optimization is complete, run the following commands to disable the automatic radio calibration function.
