Issue Description

Hardware configuration:
An RH2285 configured with an LSISAS1068E controller card, and two 1 TB hard disks configured with RAID 1 properties for installing an operating system (OS)

Figure 1 Pre1 displayed for OS access failure

Handling Process

1.  Restart the server for five times. The problem persists.

2.  Use a hard disk test tool to check the hard disk health status. The hard disks are normal.

3.  Reinstall the OS. The OS works properly, indicating that the problem is resolved.

Root Cause

The OS cannot be accessed due to an exception occurred in the hard disk partition table.

Reinstall the OS.

The fault shown in Figure 1 is caused by an exception in the hard disk partition table. You are advised to check the hard disk health status by using the hard disk test tool. If the hard disks are normal, reinstall the OS.

Download the Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) hard disk test tool at "Server O&M Home".
For a SATA hard disk, if the health status value is less than 40, replace the hard disk with a new one.
