Issue Description

On a typical videoconferencing network, MCUs and participant endpoints are properly registered with the embedded SMC GK. However, when SiteCall is used to initiate a multipoint conference from a participant endpoint, an error message "Failed to hold the conference." is displayed.

Handling Process

You can rectify the fault using two methods:
 Modify the participant endpoint settings so they meet the SiteCall security requirements. (Recommended)
− Register the participant endpoint with the GK in password authentication mode.
− Enable HTTPS mode on the participant endpoint.
 Disable the SiteCall port in secured mode on the GK. (Not recommended)

 Modify the participant endpoint settings so they meet the SiteCall security requirements. (Recommended)
1. Log in to the SMC web interface. Choose Devices > Participant. In the displayed participant list, select the desired participant and click Edit Participant.
2. Modify the settings of User name and Password while ensuring that the settings of User name and H.323 ID are consistent. Select HTTPS mode, as shown in Figure 2-2.

3. Click Save.
After the settings are complete, log in to the participant endpoint web interface, choose System Settings > Protocol > H.323/SIP Settings, and confirm that Multipoint conference authentication is set to Disable. If Multipoint conference authentication is set to Enable, choose System Settings > Import Certificate. In the displayed dialog box, import a multipoint conference certificate, which is the root_cert.pem file saved to Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd\Switch System\SwitchCentre\.
 Disable the SiteCall port in secured mode on the GK. (Not recommended)
1. Go to the save path of the GK configuration file, which is by default D:\Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd\Switch System\SwitchCentre\.
2. Open the GK configuration file gkcfg.ini using a text editor.
3. Set the value of safeguard-enable to 0 and save the file.
4. Restart the SwitchCentre service.

Root Cause

By default, the embedded SMC GK enables the SiteCall port only in secured mode. However, the participant endpoint where SiteCall is used does not comply with the SiteCall security requirements.

NOTE:
For details about the SiteCall port on the GK, see the HUAWEI SMC2.0 V100R002 Communication Matrix.
