Hard Disks on the RH2285 Cannot Be Detected

Publication Date:  2015-06-18 Views:  173 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Hardware configuration:
An RH2285 configured with twelve hard disks and one SR200 redundant array of independent disks (RAID) controller card; hard disks in slots 0 and 1 are configured with RAID 1 properties, and the remaining hard disks are used as raw hard disks.

Software configuration:
Baseboard management controller (BMC) 2.13, basic input/output system (BIOS) V036

The message as shown in Figure 1 is displayed when the RAID controller card is in self-check during server startup. Hard disks are not detected in the hard disk topology on the RAID configuration screen.

Handling Process
1.  Enter the RAID configuration screen and find that all hard disks cannot be detected in the hard disk topology. A message is displayed, as shown in Figure 2.

2.  Hard disks still cannot be detected after the RAID controller card and SAS cable are replaced.

3.  After the hard disk backplane is replaced, enter the RAID configuration screen and find that all hard disks can be detected in the hard disk topology.
Root Cause
The RH2285 hard disk backplane is faulty. As a result, hard disks cannot be detected.

Replace the hard disk backplane.

If the message highlighted in the red circle shown in Figure 2 is displayed, directly replace the hard disk backplane.
