Publication Date:  2015-06-19 Views:  113 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Software configuration:
Baseboard management controller (BMC) 1.13, basic input/output system (BIOS) V021

The BH620 at a site fails to start, "NO SIGNAL" is displayed on the virtual media, and CPUs and memory cannot be detected, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2.

Figure 1 No signal

Figure 2 No CPU and memory information detected

Handling Process
1.  Analyze data collected onsite and find that the BIOS version is V021 and 56xx series CPUs are used.

2.  Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version V036. Then the fault is rectified.
Root Cause
The BIOS version of the BH620 is an early version and does not support 56xx series CPUs.

Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version.

Only the BIOS of a version later than V025 supports 56xx series CPUs. Check software versions first for similar cases.

The BIOS can be directly upgraded from V021 to V036. You do not need to replace the CPUs with 55xx series CPUs before a BIOS upgrade.
