The Management Port IP Address Is Forgotten

Issue Description

After a user changes the default IP address of the server management port, the user forgets the new IP address.

Handling Process

Use either of the following methods to retrieve or re-configure the management port IP address.
 Perform the following operations to retrieve the management port IP address.
1. Log in to the server whose management port IP address needs to be retrieved as the root user.
2. Run the service ipmi start command to restart the ipmi service.
3. Run the ipmitool lan print 1 command to query the management port IP address, for example, 192.168.219.21 shown in Figure 10-4.

 Perform the following operations to re-configure the management port IP address.

NOTICE:
The new management port IP address must be in the same network segment as the server.
1. Log in to the server whose management port IP address needs to be re-configured as the root user.
2. Run the service ipmi start command to restart the ipmi service.
3. Run the ipmitool lan set 1 ipaddr IP command to configure a new management port IP address for the server.
4. Run the ipmitool lan set 1 netmask mask command to configure a new subnet mask for the server.
5. Run the ipmitool lan set 1 defgw ipaddr gw command to configure a new gateway IP address for the server.
6. Run the ipmitool lan print 1 command to check whether the management port IP address is re-configured successfully, as shown in Figure 10-5.
If yes, the fault is rectified, and no further action is required. If no, contact Huawei technical support engineers.
