Issue Description
Hardware configuration:
An RH2285 configured with one LSISAS1078 controller card and three 1 TB SATA hard disks. Two of the hard disks are configured with RAID properties for operating system (OS) installation.

Software configuration:
Windows 2003 SP2 64-bit

When the customer installs Windows 2003 SP2 64-bit by using ghost to the system partition, no hard disk is found, a blank screen is displayed, and the cursor is blinking, as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1 OS cannot be started

Handling Process
1.  Supervise the customer to use the ServiceCD to install the OS.

2.  After installation, the OS can be accessed after the server restarts.
Root Cause
The customer uses an incorrect method for installing Windows 2003. If the ServiceCD is not used, the LSISAS1078 controller card driver is not installed.

The LSISAS1078 controller card driver is not installed. As a result, the OS cannot be installed.

You can use one of the following methods for installing Windows OSs (Windows 2003 and 2008):
  • If the ServiceCD is provided, use the ServiceCD to install Windows 2003.
  • If no ServiceCD is provided, use the floppy disk drive (FDD) to load the RAID controller card driver and install Windows 2003.
Install the RAID controller card driver by using the FDD before you install ws2k3-r2-ent-enu-sp2-cd1.iso, ws2k3-r2-ent-x64-enu-sp2-cd1.iso, ws2k8-r2-ent-x64-enu-sp2-cd1.iso, or ws2k8-r2-ent-enu-sp2-cd1.iso by using the ServiceCD.

The ServiceCD name is ServiceCD_All Servers_V100R002C55.
