The NIC Cannot Work Properly Due to the Problem in the Centos NIC Driver

Issue Description
Hardware configuration:
An XH320

Software configuration:
Centos 6.2 64-bit, Intel 82576 NIC driver: 3.08-k


On the operating system (OS), run the dstat command to view the network throughput. No traffic under net/total is displayed every 1 second, as shown in Figure 1. The latency is high when the traffic is heavy. The response time to the ping command exceeds 300 ms in a local area network (LAN).

Handling Process
1.  Replace the OS with Centos 5.8. The problem is solved.

The network interface card (NIC) driver provided by Centos 5.8 is of the 3.06k2-2 version.

2.  Download the latest NIC driver of the 3.3.6 version from the Intel website and update it to Centos 6.2. After testing, the problem is solved, as shown in Figure 2.

Root Cause
A problem occurs in the Intel 82576 NIC driver that is provided by Centos 6.2. As a result, the NIC cannot work properly.

Upgrade the Intel 82576 NIC driver to the 3.3.6 version.
