Failure to Install the Oracle Database

Publication Date:  2015-07-01  |   Views:  174  |   Downloads:  0  |   Document ID:  EKB1000081153

Issue Description

During the Oracle database installation, a message is displayed indicating that there is no /oradata partition, and the installation ends.

Handling Process

Step 1 Solution 1: Allocate the /oradata partition on a spare disk that has not been partitioned.
Step 2 Solution 2: Create the oradata directory in the existing partition.
Suppose the 60 GB /home partition has been allocated.
1. Create the oradata directory.
Run the mkdir /oradata command.
2. Mount the disk space of the /home partition to /oradata.
Run the mount /dev/sda5 /oradata command.

Root Cause

The disk partitioning for a single-node system is incorrectly planned. It may be planned by referring to the two-node cluster data plan for the C30 version, whose single-node data plan is not provided.
