Issue Description

On the Windows management terminal, open the login page of the NetBackup Administration Console. Enter the HDP3500E host name, root user name, and password. Click Login. The error message The NetBackup host specified is invalid or does not exist. is displayed and login to the NetBackup Administration Console fails.

Handling Process

1.  Log in to the Windows management terminal as an administrator.

2.  Open the hosts file stored in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.

3.  Add the resolution information for the HDP3500E host name to the hosts file.

4.  Log in to the NetBackup Administration Console again.

Root Cause

The resolution information for the HDP3500E host name is not added to the hosts file on the Windows management terminal.

Suggestions

You can enter the IP address of the HDP3500E backup network port when you log in to the NetBackup Administration Console to avoid the login problem.
