BMR Recovery for the Windows Client Fails at PXE Network Boot-up (Status: 0xc000000f)

Publication Date:  2015-07-29 Views:  140 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
When the Windows client is being restored by the BMR, after the network boot-up from PXE, the system file copy progress bar does not appear and the 000000f error is displayed.

Handling Process
Method 1: Modify the network adapter configurations of the client on the BMR master server.

1.  Select the policy configuration file of the client.

In the navigation tree of the NetBackup management interface, choose Bare Metal Restore Management > Bare Metal Restore Clients. In the function pane, select the policy configuration file of the client.

This document uses the client win02 and the configuration file newconfig as an example.

2.  Right-click the policy configuration file newconfig and choose Change. The Change Configuration newconfig for Client win02 dialog box is displayed.

3.  Set the MAC address of the BMR to the MAC address of the preferred network adapter of the client.

   a.  Click Network Interfaces and double-click the MAC address in the New Network Information group box. The dialog box for modifying the network configuration is displayed.

   b.  Modify the MAC address in Hardware MAC address.

Method 2: Change the boot order of the network adapters in the BIOS of the client to ensure that the network adapter whose MAC address is recorded in the BMR is at the top of the boot order.

For details on how to check the MAC address configured for the BMR in the BMR master server, see 3.
Root Cause
In the client configuration file recorded by the PXE service of the BMR boot server, the MAC address of the client boot network adapter is not the actual one.
