BMR Recovery Failure Due to the Error V-126-58 Share Resource Tree does not contain Veritas Manager

Publication Date:  2015-07-29 Views:  93 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
The SuSE client with the vxfs file system is backed up successfully. When the client is being restored by the BMR, the error message Share Resource Tree does not contain Veritas Manager is displayed, and the BMR restoration fails.

Handling Process
1.  Select the policy configuration file of the client.

In the navigation tree, choose Bare Metal Restore Management > Bare Metal Restore Clients. In the operation area, select the policy configuration file of the client.

This document takes the client slot05 and the configuration file exclude_vxfs as an example.

2.  Right-click the policy configuration file exclude_vxfs and choose Change. The change configuration exclude_vxfs for slot05 dialog box for modifying the configuration file is displayed.

3.  In Installed Software, delete the license keys of Symantec Volume Manager and Symantec File System.

Root Cause
The share resource tree (SRT) does not contain software associated with the VxVM; therefore, VxVM volumes cannot be restored.

For a SUSE client that uses VxVM for volume management, only data on the system disks can be restored by the BMR. The VxVM of the client can be recovered using other methods provided by the NetBackup, for example, NetBackup file restoration. For details on other restoration methods, see accompanying documents of NetBackup.
