The IP Address of the iSCSI Client Initiator Is Not Updated on the VTL Console

Publication Date:  2015-08-03 Views:  139 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Products and versions:

VTL3500 V100R002
VTL6000 V100R003

After the VTL server and the backup server are interconnected through iSCSI, change the backup service IP address of the backup server and then log in to the VTL Console. The Initiator IP displayed in the Add or remove initiator assigned to the client operation is found the same as the original service IP address instead of the new service IP address.
Handling Process
1.  Log in to the backup server and delete all iSCSI targets.

2.  Log in to the VTL server using PuTTY or a Secure Shell (SSH) tool.

#cd /usr/local/vtl/var
#mv iscsinamecache iscsinamecache.bak

3.  Add an iSCSI target again on the backup server.

4.  On the VTL Console, add an iSCSI client. You can see that the initiator IP address has been updated.

Root Cause
After the backup service IP address of the backup server is changed, the iSCSI configuration information recorded by the VTL server is not updated in a timely manner.

Plan the IP address of each server before the initial configuration and do not change these IP addresses unless very necessary.
